Swimming

Hilton Spencer Academy is fortunate to have an on-site heated swimming pool where the children can enjoy the benefit of swimming lessons as part of the PE curriculum in KS2.  During year 3, all students will receive an all year round, high quality swimming program delivered by our own experienced Swimming Teacher.

In partnership with the ‘School Swimming Charter’ and ‘Swim England’, the national governing body for swimming in England, we enable our students to work towards eight tailored stages of school swimming.  The aim is to equip all children with the ability to swim 25 metres via a range of strokes, recognise dangers and challenges and perform self-survival skills.  We are proud to be able to recognise and reward our childrens’ swimming abilities and contribute to such an important life skill.

On swimming days all students are required to bring a complete kit including suitable swimwear (one piece swimming costume for girls, swimming shorts or trunks for boys), a towel, swimming hat and goggles.  Hats and goggles make swimming much easier and more comfortable due to being able to see underwater and reducing water resistance, but they also protect they eyes and hair from the chemicals that are in the swimming pool.
